Wishing everyone a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! Sending a special S/O and appreciation to all of you #moms, #aunts, #sisters, #cousins, and friends with the pivotal role in adding more joy to children’s lives. A loved child makes a happy future. <3

I’ve been in this business called #fashion for some time now. Do I feel like I’ve #paidmydues ? Sometimes. I’ve been to and through lots of places and phases. No matter where I’ve been and where I am in life, I’m never to good to do a little cleaning and steaming. Anyone can become a #boss but we can only truly earn that title if we can and are willing to do the work ourselves. The glamour can come after the work is done. #fashion #fashionista #designer #nyc #designerchronicles #moglover

The preview to the James Brown biopic looks great. Wardrobe is so important especially in periodical stories. I’m really liking what they are wearing. That print on Jill Scott’s dashiki is “out of sight”. #film #jamesbrown #jillscott #GetOnUp

I work behind the scenes in a face-paced, high stress career. I’m sure most fellow mom’s can relate and agree that we usually put everything and everyone ahead of ourselves. I’m very appreciative of @essencemag for having me take part in their “Shape It Up! ” story. I grew up thoroughly going through that magazine from page to page, studying and admiring the women and fashion. Seeing Beverly Johnson and her daughter on a cover left an impression I will never forget. I received encouragement to take the time to get my natural hair a needed cut. I didn’t just get a cut, but the super deluxe glam treatment. The sayings goes “Brains will take you further” ,”Beauty comes from the inside”, and I so agree. There’s nothing wrong with feeling unique and beautiful all over. Show it ladies, unashamed and fearlessly! - Mo Glover

Whether it’s worn underneath or alone, purchased or DIY, a tulle skirt can be styled with a high-fashion appeal. To celebrate women this month I invite you guys to a Tulle & Top challenge. Post a photo of yourself, with a group, or daughter in a tulle skirt. The only rule is that it must show your individual style and or culture. Feel free to explain why. Please tag me or hash tag #moglover . This will be held until Mother’s Day 2014. A fun incentive a favorite post will be announced weeks before deadline. #fashionista #fashion #style #runway #streetstyle #moglover

Did you know she has a master’s degree from Yale? If this is not motivation for young #women to take care of themselves then it’s a lost cause. “This is a career about images It’s celluloid; they last forever. I’m a black woman from America. My people were slaves in America, and even though we’re free on paper and in law, I’m not going to allow you to enslave me on film, it’s celluloid, for all to see.” - #AngelaBassett #wcw

Gordon Parks (1912- 2006) became the first African-American staff photographer and writer for Life Magazine. His body of work revealed his humanitarianism, documenting many of the most important aspects of American culture starting from the 1940s. The Kansas native and youngest of 15 siblings was self taught, after dealing with poverty and being turned out in the streets as a teen. He told an interviewer in 1999- “I saw that camera could be a weapon against poverty, against racism, against all sorts of social wrongs. I knew at that point I had to have a camera.” His fashion photography was included in publications such as Vogue. He also was a noted composer and author. In 1969, he became the first African American to write and direct a Hollywood feature film, The Learning Tree, followed by Shaft in 1971. Mr. Park’s legacy transcends time with such importance that a summary can not do it justice. #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #biggerthanfebruary #pavingforward #thankful #GordonParks
